Solid concrete mix for a small footing job
Poured a set of footings for a client's deck outside Scio using gravel sand in the concrete mix instead of trucking in ready mix for such a small pour. Worked out a lot cheaper for a job this size and set up plenty strong once cured. Only issue was a bit more fine material mixed in than we typically see, which meant a slightly wetter mix than planned.

Rushed the water on this pour
Poured a new mailbox footing after the county snowplow clipped the old one again this winter in Lebanon, mixing three parts of the leftover gravel sand to one part cement the way my father in law always taught me. Got the ratio right but rushed the water in near the end, and the mix came out looser than it should have. Still don't know if that footing will hold through a hard freeze the way the drier batches always used to, and I won't find out until the ground freezes again. Had half a yard left in the truck bed from the driveway job and hated to waste it.
