Farther east, dry sandy ground and frost create a different setting. #89 Crushed Stone belongs in tight hardscape details after the underlying support has been prepared; it is not open stone selected to carry drainage. It can also be considered for chip-seal surfacing or a concrete mix where compactable fine aggregate is called for. The finishing material should not be expected to correct poor water handling in the prepared site.
Angular crushed pieces and fines let this material lock into a close mass. Work it into paver gaps or use it as a setting material for flagstone, then compact it for a firmer result. That approach helps surfaces stay settled through wet-season changes, while the drainage portion of the project is handled separately.
