Fill Dirt in Oregon

Willamette Valley clay can stay saturated through wet months, leaving low ground soft and uneven. Fill Dirt is a clean earthen material for bringing up depressions, returning soil to excavations, and setting broad site contours. Its limited organic content makes it appropriate below later soil or constructed surfaces, rather than in a planting bed. Screened material is easier to spread and shape without debris interrupting grading work.

Across the valley and near the coast, plan the intended runoff path before raising a low section, since added earth changes where surface moisture collects. Pack the material during placement to help it hold its contour under later layers. Where the area is going back to lawn or beds, cap the shaped fill with topsoil before planting, because plant growth calls for a more organic growing medium.

Grading the Site

At construction sites, residential lots, and commercial parcels, fill dirt is used to build the required grade.
